If you agree with what we are trying to do, would you like to help us take it further? All our people are volunteers and we are always on the lookout for more for all the different activities we undertake. So whatever skills you have or don’t have, and however much spare time you have, or don’t have, we would love to find a place for you.
For the Repair Cafe:
Most of us specialise in one particular area, although there’s a little bit of overlap and there’s no reason why there shouldn’t be more. It would be very helpful if people could work on refreshments one month, and greeting customers another time. The five main areas are:
Triage are the people who “meet and greet” customers, take the details of the customer and repair, make sure it’s something we can do, and allocate the customer to the most appropriate repairer.
Refreshment team are the people who bring along and serve the cakes and coffees, etc.
Repairers are the people who carry out repairs, including bike repairs. Some of us have particular specialisations, such as furniture, clothing or electronics, and others are generalists who deal with the wide variety of items that are brought in each time.
Check-out team record what has been completed and either repaired or not, plus up-dating the national recording system, recording and banking all donations received.
Publicity / media are the people who look after our on-line presence, as well as promoting the Repair Cafe in physical forms with photos, banners, magazine articles etc.

For the Library of Things there are no “technical” jobs, but we do need people to deal with the customers, booking loans in and out and again, dealing with publicity and getting us better known.
So if you would like to help out there are many different ways you can do this, and it’s not all just as a repairer! Please call in and see us, or drop us a line and we’ll see what we can find for you. Alternatively, fill in the form below, and either tell us what you’d like to do or or select ‘other’ and we can work it out together.
